Grocery Shopping Tips
As a student you have a stick budget to stick to! Now try doing that while grocery shopping on an empty stomach…that’s not easy!! Even those with the strongest will power have a hard time resisting all the tasty treats located on the shelves! However, there is ways to avoid blowing your entire monthly student budget on one shopping trip! Allow us to enlighten you…..
1. Make a list – The worst mistake you can make is to head to the shops on an empty stomach and no shopping list! Write down everything you’ll need for the coming week, including snacks and household items!
2. Plan your meals – You’ll find it much easier to write a shopping list if you plan out your meals! Now, we’re not saying that you have to plan out each and every thing you are planning on eating during the week! However, it is wise to think about your main meals..lunch & dinner! Planning what you’ll need for lunch and dinner will help you avoid over buying on some products and end up tossing away the excess!
3. Bulk buy – Alright students, one of the joys of living in Student Accommodation is that you can bulk buy your foods with fellow students! Find items that you both use regularly and foods that you both enjoy! Usually bulk buying is cheaper in the end too!
4. Don’t shop on an empty stomach – The worst mistake you can make is heading to the shops on an empty stomach! Not saying that you have to have a full meal in your stomach before grocery shopping, but we do recommend eating a little sometime! This way you won’t feel the need to add every tasty looking treat into your shopping basket!
5. Give yourself a budget – As a student it’s important that you create yourself a student budget, ensuring you allow yourself enough cash to cover all your bills! It’s a great way to plan out your shopping each week too! Set yourself a budget to use while shopping, any extra left over use it for play cash!
Take our advice students, however tasty those treats look on the shelves; ensure you don’t end up with the whole lot in your basket! Shop wisely and save yourself some extra cash!
